Job Description
Dedicated Personnel is currently hiring for a Yard Dog in the Birmingham area.
Operating Terminal Tractors : As a yard dog, your primary responsibility is to operate a terminal tractor (also called a yard jockey) within a cargo yard or warehouse environment. These specialized vehicles are used to move semi-trailers around the yard efficiently 1.
Moving Trailers : Yard dogs are adept at maneuvering trailers within the yard. They hook up trailers to the terminal tractor, transport them to designated areas, and position them for loading, unloading, or storage.
Spotting Duties : Yard dogs perform basic yard spotter duties , including:
Collaboration : Yard dogs work closely with warehouse supervisors, leads, and other team members. They assist in guiding yard activities related to shipping and receiving.
Safety and Efficiency : Yard dogs must operate the terminal tractor safely, follow traffic rules within the yard, and communicate effectively with other drivers and personnel.
